On March 31, a thrilling, life-or-death rescue unfolded at the Raw Material Management Receiving Area of the Huaxi Special Steel Ironmaking Factory. A driver transporting coke experienced a sudden accident during the unloading operation when a massive amount of coke unexpectedly poured out, completely burying him and leaving his life hanging by a thread. At that critical moment, employees from Receiving Group B of the Raw Material Management Division spotted the incident in time and successfully rescued the driver from the pile of coke. Recently, the fully recovered driver made a special trip to deliver a silk banner, expressing his most sincere gratitude to Receiving Group B.

On the day of the incident, the driver was working on coke unloading according to standard procedures. The moment he opened the tailgate of the coke truck, a massive volume of coke suddenly surged from the unloading port at a speed and quantity far exceeding expectations. Before he could react, the driver was instantly engulfed by the surging coke, leaving only faint traces of a struggle visible. The situation on-site was exceptionally dire; coke is dense and heavy, and complete burial rapidly cuts off the air supply. In this split second of extreme peril, the employees of Receiving Group B acutely detected the abnormal situation at the scene.

“Someone is buried! Hurry, save him!” An urgent shout shattered the tranquility of the site. Hearing the call for help, the employees present immediately dropped their tasks and sprinted to the scene of the accident. Seeing a mountain of coke, no one flinched; they divided the labor and cooperated with tacit understanding. “Hold on! We’ll get you out right away!” As the employees worked frantically to dig him out, they continuously comforted the trapped driver. After more than ten minutes of emergency rescue, the buried driver was finally pulled out. Covered entirely in coke dust, he was immediately checked for physical condition, and medical personnel were promptly contacted. At the moment they saw the driver was out of life-threatening danger, all the employees involved in the rescue breathed a sigh of relief, showing exhausted but relieved smiles.

Recently, after a period of recuperation, the driver has fully recovered. Filled with immense gratitude, he presented a silk banner bearing the words “Warming Hearts with Enthusiastic Help, A Helping Hand in Times of Crisis” to the employees of Receiving Group B at Huaxi Special Steel. Tightly grasping their hands, he repeatedly expressed his thanks: “Thanks to your timely discovery and desperate rescue, if it had been even a little later, I might not have survived. I will never forget this life-saving grace as long as I live!”

In response to the driver’s sincere gratitude, the employees involved in the rescue remarked that it was simply a small effort and that anyone would have stepped forward in such a situation. “There was no time to overthink it at the time; saving a life is an instinct and what we ought to do.
